Gatjpu’yun Hub (Financial Wellbeing Hub)
Strengthening financial confidence and independence across the Homelands
Laynha opened the new Gatjpuýun Hub in 2025 to provide a safe, welcoming, and peaceful place for community members to come together, rest, learn, manage rupiah (money), and connect when in town.
We work closely with Elders to ensure the Hub reflects Marrparaŋ (wellbeing), including choosing a Yolŋu name. The Hub offers a range of services and learning opportunities including financial literacy workshops, and sessions on topics such as “Who is the tax man?”, “What is death money?”, and “How to make money last.”
The space is comfortable and relaxed, where community members can have natha (food) and a drink while taking a break in town. On selected days, Westpac provides private banking services. Drivers are available to support travel between Yirrkala, town, the airport, and Gunyaŋara.
The Laynha Hub team supports community members in town and on homelands with money management, banking, and Bäpurru, working alongside families to ensure bukmak (everybody) is always supported.
