Housing & Infrastructure Services
Our Homeland Services team delivers essential services that support people to live comfortably in their homelands.
We manage maintenance and repairs for more than 135 houses across the Laynhapuy Homelands and provide support to other service providers operating within our region when required.
Housing Services
Our team coordinates and delivers:
- Housing maintenance and repairs
- Plumbing services
- Carpentry services
- Electrical services
- Support for NTG’s Homeland Extra Allowance applications
- Community input into housing upgrades and improvement works
- Delivery of capital works projects, including offices, training centres, recreational facilities and other community infrastructure.
Essential Services
We provide and maintain essential infrastructure across the homelands, including:
- Power generation and reticulation systems, including diesel and solar power systems
- Water infrastructure, including solar bores, tanks and community water systems
- Sewage infrastructure and maintenance
- Rubbish collection and disposal
- Road maintenance, including more than 540 kilometres of roads connecting homelands to the Central Arnhem Road
- Airstrip maintenance and upgrades across homeland communities
- Drainage works and firebreak maintenance
- Supply of diesel and Opal fuel to support essential service operations
Building Local Capacity
With approximately 85% of our workforce identifying as Yolŋu, we are committed to building a skilled local workforce that supports the ongoing housing, infrastructure and municipal service needs of our homelands.
Alongside practical workplace experience, Homeland Services team members receive core operational training to ensure work is carried out safely, professionally and to industry standards.
Training includes:
- White Card
- First Aid
- 4WD Operation
Our workforce holds a range of specialised qualifications and licences, including:
- Registered Project Management qualifications
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction
- Qualified Tradespeople
- Working Safely at Heights
- High Risk Work Licence (Forklift)
- Skid Steer, Telehandler and Excavator operation
- HR (Heavy Rigid) Licences
