Upgrade older system to a more appropriate and affordable power supply (still a diesel generator system).
Due to an aging system NT Government provide funding for a more reliable diesel power source which included a much needed upgrade to the reticulated delivery system to households and other buildings. The Homeland members are responsible for the use of the diesel fuel supplied monthly. With their own Tourism business also in place this allows the Homeland Members full control over their power supply being 24/7 or minimal to what their requirements are.
This project was a great team building experience with nearly all GIHS Staff and Homeland Members involved in one way or the other over the period of the project. It goes to prove that if we all work together it can be achieved a lot easier and with a lot more “fun” had by all.
